*Phase II of the Online Gambling Case Has Been Implemented, the Indonesian National Police Criminal Investigation Agency Hands Over 5 Suspects and IDR 55 Billion in Evidence to Prosecutors*
Jakarta — The Cyber Crime Directorate of the Indonesian National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri) carried out Phase II of handling the online gambling case by handing over five suspects along with evidence to the Public Prosecutor (JPU) at the South Jakarta District Attorney's Office, Tuesday (31/3).
This submission marks the completion of the case file (P-21) and its readiness to proceed to the prosecution stage in court. During this process, Public Prosecutor Murari Azis officially received the suspects and evidence from investigators.
Head of Sub-Directorate 1 of the Cyber Crimes Directorate of the Indonesian National Police Criminal Investigation Agency, Senior Commissioner Rizki Prakoso, explained that Phase II is an important part of a series of law enforcement efforts against online gambling practices that have been previously uncovered.
"The implementation of Phase II demonstrates that the investigation has been conducted professionally and is considered complete. The Public Prosecutor will then handle the case and bring it to trial," said Senior Commissioner Rizki.
During the handover, investigators also handed over various pieces of evidence, including cash suspected to have originated from online gambling activities, valued at approximately IDR 55 billion. This amount reflects the scale of the gambling network uncovered by law enforcement.
Meanwhile, Public Prosecutor Murari Azis stated that his party had received all suspects and evidence, and was ready to continue the legal process to the next stage.
"We have received the suspect and evidence from investigators. We will then conduct a thorough investigation and immediately submit this case to the court for prosecution," Murari stated.
All suspects are now under the prosecutor's responsibility for further legal proceedings at the South Jakarta District Court. This case relates to alleged gambling crimes as stipulated in Indonesian law.
Senior Commissioner Rizki emphasized that his office will continue to coordinate with the prosecutor's office to ensure a smooth legal process through to trial. He also emphasized that this step demonstrates the National Police's commitment to firmly and sustainably eradicating online gambling practices.
"The Criminal Investigation Agency of the Indonesian National Police is committed to taking firm action against all forms of cybercrime, including online gambling, and ensuring that all legal processes are transparent, accountable, and provide legal certainty," he stressed.
Currently, the trial schedule is still awaiting a court ruling. Meanwhile, investigators have confirmed they will continue to support the prosecution by providing all necessary assistance to the prosecutor.
